WORKING WITH COLOUR AND THE FASHION INDUSTRY. The most powerful tool a designer has to work with is colour. Colour can be used to influence sales by making a customer hungry when supermarket shopping. It can make a property look larger, lighter, warmer and therefore more desirable and can turn the most basic T-shirt into this seasons 'must have' buy. Colour trends are influenced by climate, culture, economics and world affairs and those working with colour develop an instinct for knowing what will happen next. This five-day workshop for universities and colleges will introduce students to the work of those who decide what colours we choose to wear and surround ourselves with. Whilst investigating colour trends, colour in culture and how colour has evolved from the most basic natural pigments and dyes to the synthetic colours that we use today, students will learn how to use the colour wheel, mix paints and dyes to match colour references and create colour-ways for fashion textile design. They will experiment with colour swatches to analyse what colours make us look our best and practice colour healing exercises to assess how certain colours make us feel and what our choice of colour reveals about us. They will create colour mood boards and complete the course by predicting colour trends for future fashion seasons.

Price: £875.00 plus expenses for twenty-five contact hours.
