AN INTRODUCTION TO TEXTILE DESIGN For The Fashion Industry. Starting at the very beginning by researching the international fashion textile market and looking at the influence of couture designers on that market, during this course you will develop a source book of ideas for floral fabrics. You will explore the vintage fabric swatch market and experiment with a variety of techniques used to create floral textile designs on both paper and cloth. You will learn how to distress and embellish recycled fabrics whilst being introduced to hand embroidery, use natural dyes to create antique colour looks, make your own felt and experiment with foiling, bonding, bleach-out, resist and transfer printing. You will be introduced to layouts used by fashion textile designers to simulate repeat, learn how to interpret a textile design agent's brief and complete the course by producing a group of floral textile designs that could be sold to garment manufacturers through a fashion textile design agent. No drawing skills or previous experience is needed for this course.
