TREND & COLOUR PREDICTION for the fashion industry is not only shrouded in mystery but is a part of the design process that studios, manufactures and retail outlets are prepared to spend a small fortune on in their pursuit to guarantee sales. By opening your eyes to what is going on in the world around you, looking at past trends and designer collections, keeping a keen eye on the likes, dislikes and buying power of your customer however, it is possible to train your instinct and be able to forecast for yourself. Whilst studying fashion and/or textile design with Rowena Luke-King you will be introduced to this area of expertise. However should you wish to specialise in Trend & Colour Prediction, creating a story-board portfolio with which to look for work in the Fashion Forecast Industry, you may do so. You may choose to take a more indepth look at colour throughout history and within different cultures, how to use colour in healing, clothing and interior design, how to use the colour wheel with it's tints tones and shades and how to dye colour swatches for your presentations with both natural and synthetic dyes.

Rowena Luke-King has worked as a Textile Design Consultant for Derek Healey International, a Colour Consultant for Apple Textiles and Weaveplan and as an Expert on Mission for the United Nations Development Program, teaching colour theory to fashion and textile students in India. She teaches Textiles & Colour for Fashion at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and developed the short course in 'Colour Theory' at London College of Fashion.
