ROWENA LUKE-KING
Individual Tuition

SUPPORTING TEACHERS and student teachers. All of the subject areas on this website can be adapted to meet the needs of teachers and student teachers who are looking for an opportunity to extend their skills and gain an insight into the ever-changing world of fashion and the trends that capture the imagination of their pupils. If needed there will be help with writing projects, handouts and schemes of work; preparing visual aids and exploring methods used to teach the theory of fashion and textiles in more interesting and exciting ways.

Rowena Luke-King trained at Bath College of Education in the 1970's; the most progressive teacher training college for her subject at that time. She has trained teachers, lectured at The British Council and numerous colleges and universities including University of Brighton, London College of Fashion and the National Institute of Fashion Technology in India. She has has visited several secondary schools including Brighton & Hove High School, facilitating workshops and giving lectures on careers in fashion and textiles; taught refugees and asylum seekers at the Immigration Detention Centre at Gatwich and is currently involved with Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design writing, developing and teaching several of their short courses including Hand Embroidery, Fashion and Textile Design Prediction, Vintage Bags and Framed Purses, Novelty Vintage Bags, Vintage Fashion Dolls and Vintage Fashion Bridalwear. Using a multi-sensory approach that benifits all, she has become a specialist in teaching dyslexic students how to cut garment patterns.
