STUDYING WITH DYSLEXIA. Rowena Luke-King is committed to meeting the educational needs of disabled and disadvantaged people and recognises that designers and students of fashion and textiles are often dyslexic. With a multi-sensory approach, by making learning fun and focussing on constructive criticism and confidence building within a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, Rowena has become a specialist in teaching dyslexic students how to cut garment patterns.
If
you are dyslexic and have chosen to study with Rowena Luke-King on a ten, three-hour
lesson block of Individual Tuition in her
home-studio, you will be offered two extra three-hour lessons free of charge to
allow more time for pattern cutting, preparing a curriculum vitae or filling in
application forms. To qualify for this offer you will need to provide documentation
to show that you have been tested and proven to be dyslexic and take the extra
lessons within twelve months of starting your course.
If
you think that you may be dyslexic, information on adult testing can be found
via the British Dyslexia Association website: www.bdadyslexia.org.uk
If you have a disability and would like to discuss your special needs before booking individual tuition with Rowena Luke-King, a confidential pre-course meeting can be arranged by e-mailing her at: rowena@rowenalukeking.co.uk
