PATTERN CUTTING AND GARMENT CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP. If you are already able to cut garment patterns but have a specific problem to address, if you want help with taking a pattern from your favourite shop-bought top so that you can make yourself more, if you are having problems following a commercial pattern or using a sewing machine or if you are considering Individual Tuition but do not yet want to commit yourself to a full ten-lesson course, you may prefer to opt for a Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction Workshop designed to focus on a specific project during one five-hour session.
"Already able to make clothes, I was trying to adapt a Vogue pattern when I called Rowena for help. In one Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction Workshop, we scrapped the Vogue pattern, made a pattern from my favourite top, altered the pattern to create my own design, tested it in calico and cut it out in cloth ready to make up. Rowena explained everything really well and although she worked me hard, the day was lots of fun, very interesting and very rewarding". Julie Slater.
"I had never made a dress pattern and was six when I last used a sewing machine; my mums old hand powered Singer. During my Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction Workshop we made a pattern from a Kaftan that I'd bought a few years ago and tested the pattern by making it up in a piece of 1970's printed sheeting. It was fantastic to go home wearing my new kaftan with the pattern to make many more and the confidence to use a sewing machine again". Stephanie Shorey.
