FASHION DESIGN will teach you how to express your garment ideas on paper. You will learn how to create your own fashion templates, draw accessories and garment details, illustrate fabrics and trimmings and develop design collections to present on story boards as part of your portfolio of work. You will research the fashion fabric market carrying out simple home testing to assess suitability and durability. You will be introduced to fashion design research looking at fashion trends and fashion seasons, how the mass market is influenced by the couture collections and how the mood of the buying public is influenced by world affairs. Should you wish to produce one of your designs/design collections in cloth you may wish to extend your skills by studying Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction.
