PATTERN CUTTING For Absolute Beginners is designed to give those people who have no dressmaking skills the confidence to study pattern cutting at a more advanced level. Whilst being introduced to traditional pattern cutting techniques you will shown how to deconstruct a garment of your choice to assess how it has been made. You will be shown how to make a pattern from this garment, learn how to label and lay your pattern on fabric and test it by making it up in cloth. You will be introduced to the language and tools of the cutting room whilst being shown how to use a domestic sewing machine, create a working drawing of your garment and adapt your original pattern into several new styles. You will be shown how to take a pattern from an existing garment without deconstructing it and by the end of your ten Individual Tuition lessons you will have a thorough understanding of the relationship between Pattern Cutting, Garment Construction and Fashion Design.
